One more thing.
Psst! We know, the IAA 2011 is over – more than six weeks passed by, since the IAA took place in Frankfurt. But there’s one tiny video we want to share with you.
Watch how the BMW i stand was built – with sustainability in mind.
BMW i Born Electric Cam App – Movie
During the IAA here in Frankfurt you can meet some pretty sweet girls who want to shoot you – with an iPad. Just to show you, how stylish your pictures can be with the right App ;)
With the BMW i Born Electric Cam App for iPhone and iPad you can turn your photos into some nice pictures with the BMW i-Style. Download it for free at the iTunes Store!
Show where You are – on Facebook!
If you come to hall 11, let your friends know through Facebook. You don’t even need a smartphone to do it! There are interactive terminals next to each of our show cars. Look for a “Facebook Thumb” in the lower right corner of the screen. Using this thumb you can log on to Facebook and check in at the BMW stand. To check in you just have to press a small button after logging on. The rest will be done by the terminal, including the automatic logout at the end.
You are probably wondering what the terminal will post on your timeline. Well, it’s this message below and you can select whether you want to post in English or German.
You can do this posting and the picture only from one of the BMW terminals next to the show cars, giving it something very exclusive. So if you come here, don’t forget to check in!
At no time will we store any of your Facebook access data. The app running on the terminals logs you in and back off right after the check-in is completed.
And this is how you find the “Facebook Thumb” at the terminals – in the lower right corner:

Dangerous Lady
The Spirit of Ecstasy with laser vision? Unfortunately, this feature is reserved for Rolls Royce vehicles operating in the queen’s clandestine services. At least if the agent’s name is Johnny English.
At the IAA, the unusual Rolls Royce Phantom Coupé celebrates its premiere with this very feature. Even though the helpful gentlemen employed by Rolls Royce have declined to explain the function of the device to me (probably for reasons of security), I have no doubt that Rowan Atkinson had it actually installed in the car, instead of adding it in during post-production. Anyone could do that. And everybody would, let’s face it. Outside of the empire, that is.
Anyway, if you want to learn more about this unique Phantom Coupé, you can do so at the IAA. There is also a small film presentation at the Rolls Royce stand, albeit without sound. Luckily, we have the internet and that allows us to have 4:12 minutes of Rowan, the coupé and plenty of entertainment. Enjoy!
Catch me!
Police car in the rearview mirror? Most drivers would pull over in a situation like that, even if the car doesn’t use flashing lights and the siren. After all, one doesn’t want to be stopped.
With this police car, however, there may be some drivers who think otherwise.
In Munich, the Bavarian state capital and home of BMW, ten new 5-series Touring squad cars started their service with the police force. For the first time the cars were furnished with a new adhesive design, which was developed by BMW and will be used for future police versions of the 5-series BMW.
You can see the new model driving around the indoor track at BMW during some of the shows here, so be aware!
By the way, police cars can be fitted with special equipment not available for regular buyers, such as signaling lights controlled through iDrive, optimized cargo areas for front or rear-mounted radar units.
The BMW M5 – the spanish side of your desktop!
Today is the Media Launch of the new BMW M5 – which means, that first driving reports and videos are coming to the internet, newspapers and television shows. Such as the one from the guys at Top Gear.
But not only the first media reports are coming up. There are also a new package of wallpapers, which BMW released today. So if you want a new, fresh, spanish feeling on your very own desktop – just visit 5post.com and download the Wallpaper you want.
BMW i8 – the new salt of life.
Thankyou, BMW, for giving me more incentive to graduate soon and get a high paying job. #i8 #want
I stumbled over that Tweet from Gavin Duggan the other day … and I guess Gavin is not the only one who desires the BMW i3 and BMW i8 Concept cars. In terms of “people hanging around the BMW i3 and BMW i8 Concept” I think there are thousands of people going home with a new dreamcar in their mind. You too?

Exclusive: The new BMW M5 Ring Taxi.
Since 1986, the BMW Ring Taxi thrilled more than 90,000 passengers at the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife. The car chosen to continue this tradition during the next years is the new BMW M5 sedan. It is virtually identical to the standard model with the high-revving 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo package and its 560 hp at 6,000 – 7,000 rpm. Well, almost, besides unique M decals on the exterior and M Drivers package, which lifts the speed limit to 190 mph.
At the IAA the new BMW Ring Taxi makes its debut during the driving sessions at the BMW stand, but you’ll not get the chance to take a good photo – so I did it for you. Here are exclusive photos of the new BMW M5 Ring Taxi in white, coming right from the BMW garage at the IAA …
Check in @BMW!
A very attractive driving school vehicle is waiting for you at the BMW stand. According to Facebook comments the Valencia Orange Metallic BMW 1-series makes some people think about getting their license all over again.
For all of you with driving training still ahead of you, BMW can be your helping hand very soon and convey the pleasure of driving from day one.
We can’t give you all the details just yet, but at the BMW show stand you will get initial information for beginning drivers.
However, you don’t have to be a beginner to take part in BMW’s Foursquare promotion. Using your smartphone you can check in on Foursquare at the driving school vehicle “BMW Check Point Youth” and win a BMW lanyard by presenting your login screen to one of our staff.
For all of you not familiar with Foursquare, this is how it works: Foursquare is a so-called located based service. You can use it to let your friends know where you are. You can register with this service with an e-mail address or directly through Facebook or Twitter. After the registration process you can “check in” at certain locations with your phone. And with a little bit of luck you can win a few things. In BMW’s case on the IAA 2011 it’s a BMW lanyard. There is a native app for iPhones and Android phones. All other cell phones can simply use their browser to use Foursquare.
All you have to do to win the lanyard is check in at “BMW Check Point Youth” at the north counter of the BMW stand in hall 11 and ask for your lanyard. That’s it. So check it out!

If you have questions, please post them in the comments or on Twitter @IAABlog. Of course, our people at the show stand will be able to help you as well. Have fun!
